Australian Artist Jasper Knight on Toulouse Lautrec

Join us for a fascinating conversation with Australian contemporary artist Jasper Knight about his last exhibition, inspired by Toulouse Lautrec. A glass of absinthe, 19th Century’s favourite alcohol, will be served. Wine and juice will also be available for those who prefer a 20th Century refreshment.

On Thursday 10 June, the Alliance Française Sydney will be welcoming some beautiful panels on the exterior of the building, which will mask the renovation work being done to the facade of the building.

These have been specially made by renowned Australian artist Jasper Knight. His last twelve paintings, recently exhibited at the Chalk Horse gallery, are re-interpretations of Henri De Toulouse Lautrec’s most iconic art prints. They have been reproduced and enlarged to cover the scaffolding as we replace the sun louvres of Alliance Française’s historical Harry Seidler building.

After a short presentation on Toulouse Lautrec, the interview will be facilitated by Marie Chretien, Vice President of the board of directors.

Talk is in English, and glass of absinthe is included.
