The French Embassy, the French Consulate, the Alliance Française of Sydney and the Powerhouse Museum are delighted to invite you to the third edition of The Night of Ideas (Nuit des Idées), taking place at the Powerhouse in Sydney, next Thursday 27 January 2022, starting at 6pm.
This third edition of the Night of Ideas in Australia focuses on the theme “Rebuilding together” and will feature vibrant, cross-cultural and interdisciplinary conversations about arts, the environment, our societies, and much more!

| Daria de Beauvais is a Senior Curator at the Palais de Tokyo (Paris). In April 2022 she presents “Reclaim the Earth”, a collective exhibition accompanied by a publication and an associate program. She is also an independent curator, teaches at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University, writes for various publications, and regularly participates in committees and juries.She worked in Italy (at the collection Peggy Guggenheim and at the Biennale de Venise) and in the United States (at the Museum of Modern Art, and at the Independent Curators International). |  |
| Djamel Klouche is a member of the AUC Collective, a Paris based architecture and urbanism office active in France, Europe and internationally. He teaches architecture and urban design at ENSA-V, Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Versailles. |  |
| Dr Elizabeth Farrelly is a Sydney-based author, critic, columnist and a Director of The National Trust (NSW). Trained in architecture and philosophy, she is a high-profile critic of the destructive effects of neo-Liberal policies on Australian cities and of laissez-faire planning. A former City of Sydney Councillor, she holds a PhD in urbanism from the University of Sydney and is a former Associate Professor at UNSW. She is a Walkley-shortlisted writer, an internationally awarded architecture critic, and a regular commentator on urban affairs in Sydney. |  |
| David Fritz Goeppinger is a franco chilean author and photographer. He is a survivor of the 13th November terrorist attack in Paris. In 2020 he published “Un jour dans notre vie” a book after his traumatic experience as hostage in the Bataclan and his life afterwards. Since the beginning of the trial of the November 13th attacks, he holds a daily blog for the major press media France Info. |  |
| Charles Miranda is an award winning senior journalist and author, currently defence and foreign correspondent for News Corp Australia's group national newspapers. Has worked for News Corp for almost 30 years in various senior roles including as a Canberra-based reporter and bureau chief covering national politics, a chief of staff, a news director as well as the managing editor for Nationwide News NSW publications. |  |
| Dr Natalie J. Doyle is Adjunct Senior Research Fellow in French Studies at the Faculty of Arts, Monash University, Melbourne. Through a series of articles, book chapters, translations with critical introduction, and a monograph Marcel Gauchet and the Loss of Common Purpose she has established her international profile as a leading specialist of Marcel Gauchet’s political philosophy. She has edited for Routledge Marcel Gauchet and the crisis of democratic politics due to appear in February. |  |
| Marcel Gauchet is a prominent French philosopher and historian. He is a director of studies at the EHESS and was director of Le Débat , an influential journal examining current social debates. | Craig Foster is a Human rights and refugee ambassador. A Former Socceroo, he is a passionate advocate for multiculturalism, refugees and social equality as a member of the Australian Multicultural Council and 18 year, multi Logie-winning broadcast veteran with SBS Television. Foster also founded the #PlayForLives campaign during COVID-19 disruptions. With a strong conviction that the sporting community should give back to society, he encourages professional athletes and organisations to fill vacant volunteering positions in community organisations. |  |
| Christophe Lavelle is a research scientist at the CNRS, working at the National Museum of Natural History / Sorbonne University in Paris. He is an expert in biophysics, epigenetics and food science and teaches in many universities and professional schools (including Sorbonne University, Le Cordon Bleu, Basque Culinary Center,…) and is frequently asked for conferences for general public or professional audiences. He is also responsible for the scientific training of cooking teachers at the national level. An author of more than 50 research papers and 15 books on food, he is a member of several scientific and food societies. |  |
